Back To Mine Offering From Krafty Kuts.

This is a Back To Mine with a superlative set from super deck technician, Krafty Kuts, AKA Martin Reeves. Much admired for his faultless abilities behind the wheels of steel, Krafty delivers a funk-fuelled collection, cut and scratched across a gamut of grooves, stretching from party beats to laid back lounge favourites.

Slipping effortlessly into the languid and loose sax vibes of Sharpshooters' 'Pork Pie Stride', Krafty Kuts displays his infamous skills chopping into Massive Attack's debut single 'Any Love'. The jeep beats of Pete Rock & CL Smooth's signature tune 'T.R.O.Y' signals a shift in tempo, cranking up the flow, before Krafty drops the iconic riffs of The Incredible Bongo Band's 'In-A-Gadda-da-Vada' that recently saw club action at the hands of Hip-Hop herald, Nas, as the central sample in 'Hip-Hop Is Dead'. Kenny Dope in his Power House 3 guise and the true king of old skool Electro, Captain Rock, keep the funk factor at maximum, until Martin's Balearic side shines through with Paul Hardcastle's 'Rain Forest' providing a cool interlude.

Upping the pace once more, the twisted vocodered synths of Tyrone Brunson's 'Smurf' and the Glam-Electro of Danish trio Who Made Who roll into Skool of Thought & Ed Solo's 'We Play Music' that features the dulcet tones of Darrison riding the Rocksteady skank. The aforementioned Nas makes an appearance with 'Nas Is Like' followed swiftly by The Soul Searchers' classic 'Ashley's Roachclip' that Eric B and Rakim put to such good use on 'I Know You Got Soul' and 'Paid In Full'. Dropping seamlessly into 'Roll Over Baby' his collaboration with sometime partner in crime A-Skillz, fronted by Ashley Slater, Krafty Kuts makes a move towards some proper 80s synth pop with Nu Shooz' glittering gem 'I Can't Wait'. Entering the home straight, the smoking beats of ADOR's 'Let It All Hang Out' blend into the dub-wise Jazz of fellow Brightonians Black Grass which leaves living legend Roy Ayers, the grandfather of Acid Jazz, to segue into the blissful beats of Krafty Kuts' own 'Summer Samba'
